Source:BPCityC The international standard ISO 37106:2021 Sustainable cities and communities - Guidance on establishing smart city operating models for Sustainable cities and communities was officially published in October 2021.
The standard is a top-level framework standard for smart cities, which designs a blueprint for the entire development process of smart cities from conception to realization of expected benefits through the UN Theory of Change, and develops a smart city logic model for smart cities and communities. The standard combines the experience of sustainable smart city construction and management represented by the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, member of the International Smart Sustainable City Club, and provides a "Chinese Solution" for development of sustainable smart city in the world. The standard looks at the innovative use of technology and data to both help guide decision makers (public, private, voluntary sectors) in developing, negotiating, and implementing smart city strategies, and help managers coordinate stakeholders to collaboratively develop the value of smart cities, thereby establishing an open and collaborative, people-centred digital city operating model that facilitates digital transformation and change in cities for sustainable development.
Previously, ISO 37106 has achieved good practice and feedback in countries such as the United Kingdom and South Korea, and the city of Daegu, South Korea, has been certified as an ISO 37106 Smart City by the BSI (British Standardization Institute) by actively practicing and applying the standard. The results of this revision incorporate more successful experiences from home and abroad, and city managers can make their cities and communities smarter, more sustainable, more efficient, and safer by implementing and applying the standard. In response to the National Standardization Development Outline issued by the State Council of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, we will enhance the level of opening up of standardization to the outside world, deepen international standardization exchanges and cooperation, promote the synergistic development of domestic and international standardization, enhance the degree of openness of standardization, and further play the fundamental and leading role of standardization in promoting the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity. International Smart Sustainable City Club calls for and welcomes more cities and parks across the country to participate in this standard demonstration work and contribute more and better experience of smart sustainable development to the international community. |
