On April 8, 2022, the international standard pre proposal of "best case of low carbon city" proposed by members of ISSCC China Alliance and relevant institutions at the end of 2021 passed the project approval vote of ISO / TC 268 pre proposal with a high support rate of 95.8%.

The Research Report of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme shows that cities account for 2% of the global land area, consume 60% of energy and emit 70% of greenhouse gases. The core goal of 2030 is the implementation of the United Nations sustainable development goals. The Paris Agreement puts forward the goal of global carbon neutrality from 2050 to 2100. Carbon neutrality is rapidly becoming a key goal for global cities to implement sustainable development.

This work will form an international standard technical report (TR) on the application cases of low-carbon emission cities, which will be incorporated into the cases of urban low-carbon emission management in combination with the six purposes and 12 key areas of sustainable development proposed by ISO 37101, including but not limited to: the objectives and Strategies of reducing carbon emissions, the planning and implementation of carbon emissions, the low-carbon technologies adopted by relevant enterprises and institutions, public participation, monitoring and verification, etc. The TR will compile management practices and practical technical solutions to help cities and communities develop integrated approaches to reducing carbon emissions. The results will be further integrated into the revision of ISO 37101 and ISO 37104 and the preparation of other standards under research.

ISSCC, together with ISO / TC268 and SAC / TC567, will organize relevant institutions at home and abroad to carry out standard research. Domestic cities and research institutions are welcome to provide cases for the technical report.
