ISSCC Secretariat visits Qingdao, one of the initiating member city of the Club

Since its establishment in Hangzhou in June 2017, ISSCC has grown from 16 global cities to 38 global members after three years of development.

Qingdao was one of the eight Chinese cities when the Club was founded. In order to learn the recent development the member city of ISSCC and conduct standardized industry-university-research cooperation and exchange with relevant units in Qingdao, the ISSCC Secretariat paid a visit to Qingdao   from August 24 to 25, 2020.

On the afternoon of August 24th, the ISSCC Secretariat visited Qingdao Institute of Standardization (QIS), and had a discussion with leaders of Qingdao Market Supervision Bureau and QIS. The ISSCC Secretariat introduced the recent progress of the Club in developing national standards such as sustainable development of future communities and small towns, international standards such as sustainable development of business districts, pilot program of international standards for sustainable development, and participation in international standardization activities to the leaders of QIS.

The leaders of Qingdao Municipal Bureau and Standard Institution welcomed the visit of ISSCC and said that Qingdao, as one of the initiating cities and member cities of ISSCC, will continue to pay close attention to the development of the Club and vigorously participate in ISSCC activities. In addition, the international standardization training base managed by QIS will further develop exchanges and cooperation with the international standardization conference base in Hangzhou, the president city of ISSCC.

On the morning of August 25th, ISSCC Secretariat met with Mr. Xu Guoqi, former director of Qingdao Quality Supervision Bureau and director of National Offshore Equipment Testing Center, and reported the development of ISSCC to Mr. Xu. We also communicated with Mr. Xu regarding the development of training system for basic qualified personnels on standardization and the cooperation with universities and high-tech enterprises in Qingdao in production, education and research aspects.

On the afternoon of August 25th, ISSCC Secretariat visited Qingdao Hi-Tech Industrial Park and had a discussion with Mr. Liu Zanke, Chairman of Hi-Tech Industrial Development Co., Ltd. ISSCC introduced to Mr. Liu the significance of basic qualified personnels in standardization to Qingdao's sustainable development, and suggested that based on Hi-Tech Industrial Park, the industry-university-research cooperation on standardization personnel training could be widely carried out in Qingdao.

In this visit, we visited the initiating and member cities of ISSCC, deeply learned the standard development situation in Qingdao, and exchanged the work progress with Qingdao Market Supervision Administration and QIS. In the next step, we will further cooperate with Qingdao in smart manufacturing, sustainable development, training, production, education and research of basic qualified personnels on standardization.

Meanwhile, the ISSCC Secretariat will continue to visit the member cities of the Club and international pilot cities to promote standardized exchanges and cooperation on sustainable development between the member cities of ISSCC and the international pilot cities.
